Reimbursements (rev 4/12/08)
RESS Individual Reimbursements
The RESS Individual Reimbursement Contest is offered to members only and awards the RESS member a $500 prize to be applied to an art education program chosen by the winner. An entrant should submit a minimum of 50 words explaining how the prize will further his or her artistic education. Optionally, the entrant may include three portfolio images. After attending his or her chosen educational program, the recipient is expected to write a summary of the event for publication in the RESS twice yearly newsletter, The Boat.
The 2003 Reimbursement winner, Danielle Feldman, used her award to attend the Gwen Reardon sculpture workshop, "Attitude & Action" held September 8-12, 2003. Danielle's review of the workshop, "It is Not Precious", was printed in the September 2003 issue of The Boat. Her draft horse head study created at the workshop is shown at left.
The 2004 Reimbursement winner, Jennifer Kroll, has also chosen to attend the Gwen Reardon sculpture workshop, "Attitude & Action" in 2004. Her review was published in The Boat.

RESS Educational Event Support Individual Reimbursements
The Realistic Equine Sculpture Society, Inc. (RESS) is pleased to
offer the RESS Educational Event Support Reimbursement, a monetary subsidy
to be awarded to an educational event, such as a workshop or
seminar, providing initial or continuing education to new or
experienced realistic equine artists.
Sometimes the only thing holding back a great idea for starting a new
event or further developing an existing workshop is a lack of funding.
RESS is offering this reimbursement to promote excellence in realistic equine
artistry by stimulating the development of educational
opportunities throughout the realistic equine artist community.
PLEASE NOTE: RESS, as a 501(c)6 not for profit CANNOT provide funding for the education reimbursement prior to the
event. Funds up to $500 per individual will be reimbursed after the event and upon completion of all requirements and submission of receipts. We
are sorry if this causes any inconvenience.
Melissa Gaulding, host of the Washington, DC live show Zebra 2003,
explains that, "holding a sculpting class as part of my show provided
an in-depth educational venue that went beyond model showing, allowing
for exchange of artistic ideas that benefited sculptors, finishers, and
judges alike. It also put budding artists in the same room with one of
equine art's top sculptresses, giving them access to her expertise both
at the class and beyond. Most of these folks would never be able to
travel to the artist, so having her travel to us was a wonderful
opportunity."
The 2008 reimbursement will be available to events held between July 1 and December 31, 2008.
Application deadline is May 15, 2008.
